| How shall I document the newfound absence of a band member? Should I say "We had creative differences"? Should I say "He went on to pursue other endeavors"? That's what they say at my day job. "[Insert employee name here] has moved on to other endeavors. We wish him the best of luck!" Do they really wish him the best of luck? Do they really give a shit what happens to the guy? Or in some cases, didn't they actually coerce him into resigning - or maybe even fired him? But that's the way we say things, isn't it? I'm sure George Carlin has probably covered this topic at some point - in a most colorful manner of course... |

So what happened with Kyle? People that I know well already know what happened to Kyle - why he's no longer in Ballista. And despite George Carlin's sage teachings, I shall not publicly divulge the gory details of what actually transpired. I will say that it goes beyond "creative differences". Whether or not we wish each other luck in our "future endeavors" is yet to be seen. If you really want to know what happened buy me a beer sometime and I'll tell you. It's not like it's a big fucking secret. It's just not "appropriate" to put it here in front of everybody.
So what happens now? Well. Step 1: find another drummer (step 1 is actually "get our shit together", but that's an ongoing process). We've been talking to people. People have been talking to us. We've made some connections. We're doing some tryouts. In the meantime (great Helmet record by the way), Billy - our drummer from way back in the day - will be helping us out with shows. If you don't know Billy, he's a bad ass. We really appreciate his help in this time of transition.
All this being said, I really don't wish any bad shit on Kyle. But this page has turned.
