08/29/2005: "Hey Ballista - Where's the New Record?"
Many people have asked us when we're going to release a new record. After all, our last record was released in 2003. Well... it's a little complicated. We do have eight new songs - some of which we've been playing at shows already. And I plan on whipping out a few more in the near term. So what's the hold-up? The most obvious hold-up is that I need to get off my ass and do some recording. Because, you know, I just come home every night after work and drink beer and flip channels. Get me another beer woman! Right. I work my sweet ass off on this band (take a look next time you see us). But I can squeeze in some recording time nonetheless. So what's the other obstacle to fresh audio bliss on optical media?
It goes kinda like this. Several months ago we met a guy with some great connections in L.A. More recently we got the idea to do a production deal on our next record. What's a production deal Rick? Production Deal: It's when you get a decent producer to produce your record for a fee and/or royalty points in hopes that his/her name and connections will get you a step closer to the mega-stardom you so desire. Back to this guy we know. He's hooked us up with four different producers that are willing to do a record with us.

So who are these producers? Well let's just try to give you a good comparison you can relate too. Imagine you're making an independent film and Ron Howard or Steven Spielberg said they'd produce it. That would be some big shit, right? Well this shit is just damn near that big. And we're getting it for a kick ass bargain. BUT. Do you see the size of that "but"? BUT, we don't have enough green to do the deal. So, we're currently on the prowl for investors. I've written all this shit up in a prospectus. If you're interested email us at: ballista@ballistamusic.com and I'll shoot you a link.

So what do investors get? Invest enough and be an executive producer on Ballista's next release - shit, maybe the one after that too. Don't care about that? OK. Well how about double your money back plus royalty money that keeps paying as long as the record is sold? Still not enough? OK. Look. Anyone that knows us knows that we work our asses off every day on this band and we WILL NOT STOP until we are successful. So if none of that other stuff is enough, consider doing it because you like our music, you believe in us, and you'd like to help somebody acheive a goal they've worked eight hard years to attain. And of course, remember that all investor terms are negotiable.

That said, I will begin to record again soon so we can get some newer stuff out there. If we've got enough songs recorded to punch out a record and we still haven't raised all the money we need yet, we'll probably go ahead and realease it independently. So there it is. That's where the new record is at. BTW - you can always help by buying our current records!
