08/16/2005: "The Sequel - A Trip to Get Fliers Ends in Tradgedy Part Duece"
You may remember this story from a couple weeks ago. Whilst minding my own business, a dried up ass nugget backed into my precious van(dal) - the transporter of stuff de Ballista. He accomplished this without even turning around or looking in his mirrors! Such a feat! When last we left our heroes, I had the dude's insurance info and about to dial the phone when...
POOF! I acheived contact with State Farm Insurance. This was on like August 1st or 2nd I think. Zipidee doo dah. They questioned me. I gave details. Blah, blah, blah. Now this next part sorta stunned me. I mean I'm sitting here talking to his insurance agents office (well actually not the office, but one of the staff members). They send Mr. Douchebag bills and new insurance verifications and communicate with him over the telephone when necessary - and so on and so forth - right? They asked me if I had his phone number. WHAT??? Why in sweet lord Jehovah's name would I have his phone number - me, a poor slob who only days earlier was victimized by Mr. DB's criminally negligent driving skillz - and his goat ramming insurance agent NOT HAVE HIS NUMBER???? (If you have State Farm - sorry... I'm really just referring to this particular agent) As you can guess, this was clue #1 that something was quite amiss.

I gave the guy the number I had which was DB's son's number. And that was it for like a week. When next I called them, they told me that there was some question as to how many days Mr. DB had rented the car. But at this point they didn't tell me how many days. Apparently State Farm only covers a rental car for up to 21 days. And hey I'm sure this is some reasonable shit for most people. But this has now become the crux of what I may begin to call the "Vandal Scandal". I found out only a couple of days ago that this dude had rented this car for EIGHTY DAYS. Please tell me. Have you known anyone personally that has EVER rented a car for EIGHTY DAYS??? I mean I'm sure there are occassions when it's necessary - this I do not dispute. But, out of every rental car being driven by a douchebag in the entire fine metropolis of Oklahoma City on Sunday July 30, 2005 - it's the rare dickweed that has had his rental car for EIGHTY DAYS that backs into me. Splendid.

So after uttering a few unsavory bits of language to the claims guy, I finally begin to come to terms with this horrible truth. The claims guy says he has to double-check all of this but he's pretty sure there's no coverage - i.e. cF (that's me) is S.O.L.

Two days later (today actually) the claims guy calls me back and verifies that there is no coverage from State Farm. At this point I'm pretty relaxed - I had some warning. I ask then if claims guy can give me DB's number so I can see if he wants to resolve this without going to small claims court. "I'm sorry because of privacy policies I can't give you that." WTF? Mr. Douchebag has already admitted to his insurance agent that he indeed has caused the accident and they can't give me his number??? I'm pissed. At this point I feel the need to engage in some violence and melee. My brain rejects this course of action however. We must rise above!

It ocurrs to me to call my insurance agent - since they're always helpful and have had inifinitely more experience with these matters. Besides, Master Sean Agnew (this guy is one of the smartest most successful people I know) always said to access your mentors. So I access. My agent suggests I call the rental car place to see if I can manuever some liability out of them. Duh - good idea. My deductible is 5 bills and I ain't got that kinda cash right now.

My friends. We have arrived at a most wonderful sort of twist. One that should have been forseen. Perhaps if I'd gone to the moutaintop... But, alas, I did not. Let's review a couple of facts first though:

* the accident ocurred in the parking lot of the rental car company

* the event itself was probably almost within view of the rental car office

I just wanted to be clear on that. This son-of-a-motherless-goat-scrotum told Enterprise Rent-a-Car that he had no idea how the rental car was damaged!!! WOW. This is incredible! Oh and by the way, in part 1 of this saga I gave kudos to this dude for having insurance. Kudos irrevocably withdrawn douche. Anyway, that's it for now. Stay tuned kiddees. In the highly anticipated episode 3 of the Vandal Scandal find out if the rental car company will accept liability!!!

And, they just might be positive developments! Isn't this some edge-of-your-seat journalism? I'll blog it in the next couple days...
