08/12/2005: "Bricktown Music Fest Pre-Party - Where Is Everybody???"
It appears a few bands didn't get the memo. The pre-party for the festival was changed from Aug 12th to Aug 11th several weeks ago. A nice lady called and told me this. She also called all of the other bands. But apparently not everyone recorded this fact and distributed it to their partners in crime. Out of the 50+ bands that are included in this gig, maybe 15 or 20 showed up...
Amy and I drove into Bricktown ready to party. As usual there was no place to park so we drove around for about 10 or 15 minutes until we found a free place to park that we judged unlikely to result in towage. Then we hoofed it to Bricktown Live ready for some cheap beer and some mingling with our fellows. When we walked in, there were probably eight or so non-staff people there.

Despite the low turnout we obtained our drinking bracelets and drank up whilst waiting for Kyle to show up with the tickets and money. He was selling tickets right up to the last minute. Kyle gets there and we figure out all the money and ticket stuff - there's always this last-minute anxiety that we're missing tickets or money or something. We were good to go - cash and tickets accounted for. By then there were like three or four other non-staff left (about 8:30ish). We talked to a few people. Met a girl named Holly that takes pictures (Holly if you'll send me an email I'll link you). Then we split.

Couple of show notes:

* It sounds like the heavier bands will probably be playing inside Bricktown Live

* Bands that don't turn in their ticket counts by 10AM today may lose their chance at a preferred time slot

* We'll probably find out showtimes tomorrow

So um, yeah.

On Sunday, August 14th, cF said: I think I remember Holly from the Classic Rock too... Hmmmmm... One time Kyle got mugged walking to a the convenience store and we had to cough up $50 worth of ticket money. That sucked. Maybe someday we'll learn to write down how many tickets everybody got so we can avoiding freaking out at the last minute. Well. Naaaaaah - we'll just keep freaking out at the last minute. Thanks for checking out the site Anna.
Also, and I may have said this before, but "Horse Called War" is a kick ass band name.

On Saturday, August 13th, Annatomik said: Yeah coming up with missing tickets for things SUCKS. crazy Not too long after I left BTL that night, the lighbulb went on and I remembered (like I told you, my memory is a bit like swiss cheese)...Holly used to take pictures up at the Classic Rock.
That is very clever of you to put the stationary-streaming- music thing at the bottom of your page. Rock on...and on...

On Friday, August 12th, Amy said: Holly was cool. We had some great conversation in the ladies room about shoes... wink We pulled another chic - Elaine - into our conversation as well. It was pretty much decided that we all like shoes... We all have too many shoes... and our significant others do not understand our obsession with shoes.
I am no longer alone.
